Why Prepare for Fire?
Colorado now has a longer, more intense fire season. More homes and buildings are in high-risk (WUI) areas. Insurance restrictions are becoming more common in wildfire zones. There are also new statewide building requirements related to fire management that will impact updates on current and future buildings.

Class A fire-rated roofing (metal, composition shingle, synthetic slate/DaVinci, tile, or similar products)

Clean gutters with debris protection (gutter guards) to reduce accumulation

Ember-resistant vents or properly screen metal mesh (1/8” metal or ember-resistant vents)

Non-combustible materials, particularly within the first 4 feet from the ground

Double paned or tempered glass
-
Non-combustible decks, balconies, and fencing connections to building
